Use Cases

Choose these pads for a closed-back A-series cushions refresh when cracked A-series leatherette or worn cushions are affecting the appearance of an ATH-A500X, A700, A900X, or A990Z headphone. The black finish suits an A500X cup refresh and the smooth surface is described as easy to clean.

They are also suited to a studio closed-back comfort setup when the listed Audio-Technica models need replacement cushions. The listing covers an ATH-A900X leatherette pair and A990Z over-ear pads as part of the multi-model A-line fit, while aftermarket A700 cushions are represented by this replacement listing.

Before installation, compare the outline and attachment on the worn pad. The listed mounting guidance is to copy the current attachment, including a typical ring or stretch mount where applicable, then seat the rim evenly so the driver grill stays clear. These are closed A-series leather-look pads, not the suede pads listed for AD-series open-back headphones.

Use the model list and the existing pad outline as your installation check. ATH-A500X, A700, A900X, and A990Z are the models identified for this replacement. If your headphones are from the AD series, use the separate listing for AD-series suede pads rather than mixing open-back and closed A-series cushions. For a listed model, remove the worn pad, follow its attachment method, and work the replacement rim around the cup evenly. This keeps the mounting process aligned with the fit guidance provided for the product.
